Assignment 1 : Order , Dis-order , Re-order

Assignment 1 : Order , Dis-order , Re-order

Rain of ideas.☂️

Our first assignment at Basic Design was given through an outside campus activity at " Cloud",  beautiful work of art created by the famous architect Sou Fujimoto.

It consisted on bringing there the umbrella, placing it at the Cloud in every position we thought was the best and then relate it with two arguments. This requirement was beautiful and a little bit difficult at the same time cause the umbrella had to kinda become part of the structure. However, the assignment  helped us increase our creativity by trying out new ideas, building self-confidence, expressing our personal thoughts, thinking deeper and getting motivated to do our best.

My umbrella was a big one with brown parts. That's why when I fist went around the Cloud I noticed a part of the nature outside it. I placed my umbrella at this part of the structure cause I wanted it to look a piece of the Cloud and  part of the nature at the same time. If you looked at it from inside the Cloud you could notice it matched with the trees, the ground and the colors around it.

But this wasn't our entire work. We were asked to take a photo of our umbrella, print it black and white and then choose 3 sample areas on it which depict at least one design element and multiply them by having 12 in total. Then these 12 squares should be organized on an A3 format.

The design elements :
Color. Line. Shape. Texture. Form. Unity/Harmony. Balances.

This is what I kept in mind when I chose my 3 pieces and then compose my work.

The first area includes lines, which are also connected with each other and create a relation with the Cloud structure. The second one consists of two shapes similar with triangles which interlink with each other by creating a beautiful composition. The third one is the ending part of the umbrella related with the trees behind. I chose it because it included an open space, nature which gives the eye a rest.
